Severn Trent takes another step on journey to becoming most trusted water company

Ofwat has rated Severn Trent in the top band of companies for the quality of information and assurance provided to customers about performance.

Severn Trent has worked hard as part of its vision to become the UK’s most trusted water company by 2020 to move up a category.

Liv Garfield, Severn Trent’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have moved up into the self-assurance category as it shows that not only do we listen to our customers about what they want to see but we also act on it.“We’ve already prioritised those areas that our customers care most about with our customer ODI performance, while also offering our customers the lowest average combined bills in the country.

“All of that, combined with the fact we’re investing £1,400 for every home and business we serve in the five years to 2020, show the good progress we’re making on our journey to becoming the country’s most trusted water company.”

Severn Trent had previously been in the targeted category but had worked hard to engage with customers through a number of focus groups across the region on ways to improve transparency and the quality of its data.

Keith Mason, Senior Director at Ofwat, said: “Achieving the top rating shows Severn Trent has really committed to providing high quality of information and assurance to its customers and stakeholders.

“We trust that they will provide accurate and reliable information with minimal intervention from us as the regulator. We urge more companies to strive to meet these same high standards.”
