We're investing £140,000 in new water pipes for Welshpool

We'll be investing around £140,000 to install new water pipes in Welshpool to make sure the community has a reliable water supply for years to come.

We'll be starting work on Tuesday 3 January 2017 and carrying out three phases as part of the project which should last around eight weeks.

Gareth Mead, explains: “This is a really important project for Welshpool and will make sure people living there have a reliable water supply.  The first phase of our work will see a new water pipe installed beneath the A458 near to the nature reserve. Temporary traffic lights will be in place while this is completed.

“Contractors from Amey will then be working on land adjacent to the A458 by The Country Store. During this phase there will be some road restrictions on parts of the main road to allow us to connect individual customers to the new pipes.

“Then finally we’ll install the last water pipes beneath the A458 near the junction of Red Lane – if everything goes to plan we hope to complete the project by the end of February 2017.”

We'll work as quickly as possible to complete the work but there will be some road restrictions required as the pipes are laid.

Gareth continues: “We’ve planned this job really carefully to minimise the impact on the busy road, but I’m sorry to say that we will need to use temporary traffic lights at some stages to ensure our engineers can work safely.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and would ask motorists to allow a little extra time for their journeys while this important project is completed.”
