Severn Trent to invest £6 million in Malvern’s water supply

27 June 2016

We're planning to invest £6 million in a brand new underground water storage reservoir, and three miles of new water pipes from Cowleigh Road to Lower Wyche in Malvern. But before work begins, We want to invite local residents to a drop-in session to hear more about the plans.

Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, explains: “To make sure we can continue to serve the community in Malvern for years to come, we need to build additional water pipes and replace an underground storage reservoir. We’re regularly checking our water network across Malvern and believe now is the right time to invest in our infrastructure to make sure we can provide the town with a continuous supply of water.

“This is a big investment for us – we’re spending £6 million and we want to make sure that while we’re working in the area we share our plans with the community. We’d encourage local residents to come along to the drop-in to hear about the work. We’ll be at The Malvern Cube, Albert Road North, Malvern WR14 2YF4 on Monday 4 July 2016 between 4pm-7pm; everyone is welcome to pop by and meet the team and to get an update and hear more about the project.”

The work, which will begin in mid-August, will last for approximately 12 months, and will start in Old Hallow and Como Road. Gareth adds: “In order to keep everybody safe we’ll need to close some of the roads while we’re working in them, but more information about this will be available at the drop-in session.

“We know that this work may cause some inconvenience and closing roads will cause disruption for the local community, and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected, and to ask for their patience. This work will help us to keep the water running for our customers in Malvern for many years to come.”
