Melbourne Flood Alleviation Project
We’ve been working with Derbyshire County Council, the local flood authority, on a project to address flooding issues in key areas throughout Melbourne. This strategy involves increasing the size of some parts of the existing sewer network, as well as providing storage to prevent storm water from going into the sewer.
To make sure we concentrate our efforts effectively, we’ve been conducting ground investigations throughout Melbourne over the past two years, the purpose of which has been to check ground conditions and locate other existing services. Once these investigations are complete, we will use the information gathered to create a detailed design for the flood strategy. This is expected to be complete by the end of this year, at which point we will share it widely with the community. After this, we will go into the construction phase, which is expected to start at the end of 2026/start of 2027 and last for three years.
