Ongoing work
Newark Waste and Water Improvement Project
We're investing £60 million over the next four years to upgrade Newark's sewerage and water system to help protect homes from sewer flooding
Elan Valley Aqueduct
We're upgrading the Elan Valley Aqueduct as part of the Birmingham Resilience Project (BRP) and this part of the work will see the creation of three new tunnels at Bleddfa, Knighton and Nantmel. The tunnels will bypass some exisitng sections of the aqueduct which will no longer be used, but will continue to guarantee a continued water supply to Birmingham.
The Pipeline- Lickhill to Frankley
This new 26km pipeline will take water from the River Severn at Lickhill to Frankley water treatment works. It will provide a vital backup water supply for Birmingham, so we can carry out refurbishment work on the Elan Valley aqueduct and also to use in any future emergency. Preparation work to lay the pipeline started in October 2016 and will continue until 2018.
