Event Duration Monitoring

2020 EDM data

  • The EDM 2020 data as published in the file below, includes periods of spill durations and indicate where a monitor may not be fully operational. This can in such cases lead to incorrect conclusions on a sites performance and can therefore be misleading.
  • In the interim to aid understanding of accurate and inaccurate site data, we have split our EDM Data into the following four tables:
  • Table 1 (Uncoloured):
These are all the sites where there are no comments in relation to maintenance, installation or river ingress issues and should be providing accurate data.
  • Table 2 (Amber):
These are sites that required an additional data addendum to be submitted to the EA, there are 23 of these. These are complex manual download sites where we needed to access the monitor manually to download the data. Due to site access and road permitting issues on some major roads we were unable to submit the data before the February 2020 deadline. The addendum data is included further down the file in Appendix 1.
  • Table 3 (Red):
These are the sites with known Installation, Maintenance or River Ingress Issues, as commented that meant periods of inaccurate data were recorded. These do not provide an accurate picture of times in overflow or counted spills and should not be used to draw conclusions on accurate site performance.
  • Appendix 1 (uncoloured and red):
This is the data addendum for table 2. Individual Lines coloured in red in the addendum data indicate the same issues with the installation, maintenance or River Ingress resulting in the totalised data being inaccurate. The same caution should be applied when drawing conclusions on individual site performance.
