Asset protection

The Asset Protection Team exists to help commercial developers plan what to do when working close to our networks and infrastructure.

How we can help you

The Asset Protection team can help you with:

  • planned work near a water or wastewater pipe
  • strategic development issues
  • concerns from customers or public bodies about new development
  • subsidence claims from a customer’s insurance company
  • sewer defects enquiries and assessments, after a CCTV survey has been carried out
  • pipe ownership and responsibility

We're unable to help with questions about:

  • work near drains and sewers at domestic properties
  • sewer blockages
  • leaks and burst pipes
  • broken manhole covers
  • rats in sewers and drains

You should contact our customer service team if you have a problem with your water or waste services.

Guidance for working near Severn Trent assets

The Asset Protection Team provide expert advice and guidance on how to work near our network and infrastructure.

Check our guidance documentation to make sure you know what precautions to take before you begin work.

Tree planting restrictions

Tree roots can damage pipes and other assets as the plant grows.

If you're planting trees, shrubs and bushes on site, make sure you follow our safe distance limits and put the right plant in the right place to avoid damage to sewers or water pipes.
