Severn Trent to supercharge skills and job opportunities with Big Boost for Brum event

February 17th, 2026

Birmingham is set for a major boost this February as Severn Trent brings its biggest careers and skills event of the year back to the city.

A whole host of opportunities will be available, along with top employers and hands on support all under one roof at St Andrew’s, Knighthead Park on Wednesday, February 25th

Running between 10am and 2pm, the event will host more than 30 employers, including EE, Warwickshire Police, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Combined Authority, Avove, Barhale, British Transport Police and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, all offering live full and part time vacancies across a wide range of sectors.

Attendees will have access to training providers, employability workshops, early careers experts and practical, hands-on support to help them take their next step such as CV writing sessions.

There will also be an opportunity to speak to Severn Trent’s affordability and smart metering teams for information on staying on top of household bills.

Megan Alpin, Social Impact Delivery Manager at Severn Trent, said: “Big Boost for Brum is about bringing people together and making sure everyone has the chance to find opportunities and thrive.

“The city is full of talent and potential, and we want to help open the door to new skills, new careers and new opportunities.

“Whether someone is stepping into work for the first time or looking for a fresh start, we’ll be right there to offer advice and support, and we’ll bring along a fantastic group of partners who feel the same.”

Severn Trent’s Big Boost for Brum is designed to connect people across the city with new opportunities, skills and support, going far beyond a traditional jobs fair.

There will also be information on Severn Trent’s Apprenticeship scheme with 100 positions available spanning from HR to water networks, engineering and electrical. They are open to anyone interested, regardless of their age and where they currently are in their careers, whether they’re just starting out or looking to re-skill in a new career.

To remove the barriers for entry, Severn Trent has removed the need for people to have achieved a pass for both English and Maths for some of their apprenticeships, opening some of the schemes up to more people. Those without the qualifications will be able to gain them during their apprenticeship.

Applications close on March 16th, 2026, and more information can be found at www.severntrent.com/careers/early-careers/apprenticeships

Megan added: “Birmingham is one of the largest cities Severn Trent serves, and the company is committed to supporting local people beyond providing clean, reliable water. But we want to do more for people in our communities and this event will help unlock potential and create pathways into long term careers.”

The event is free to attend, with general admission from 10am to 1pm, a quiet hour between 1pm and 2pm offers a calmer environment for those who prefer or need reduced noise.

While parking is not available at the venue, St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park is easily accessible via public transport.
