RPZ Valves

RPZ valves provide backflow protection up to, and including Fluid Category 4 which represent significant health risks.

What are RPZ Valves?

RPZ valves, also known as type BA Devices, are mechanical devices that provide backflow protection against fluid category 4, which represent significant health risks.

Backflow occurs when water flows in the reverse direction, potentially allowing contaminants to enter the clean water supply.

RPZ valves are specifically engineered to protect water supplies from contamination caused by substances that pose a significant health hazard, classified as "Fluid Category 4". These include chemicals, pesticides, and other toxic materials.

Installation

Water Regs UK have provided their Approved Installation Method (AIM), which sets out the requirements for installation, on-site testing and maintenance.

Application

Consent for the installation or removal of an RPZ valve must be granted before work begins. Use this form to request consent to install or remove an RPZ valve.

Testing

All valves must be tested on an annual basis and a copy of the certificate sent to us. If the RPZ valve fails the test but is repaired and satisfactorily retested, the certificate should then be sent to us.

Submission of certificates can be via e-mail, see below.

If required, you can also download PDF copies of our RPZ application forms.
