A little about Linacre Reservoirs
Some history and the site today
- Historically the three reservoirs supplied water to the nearby town of Chesterfield.
- However, they became non-operational in 1995 and today they’re managed for visitors and wildlife and provide a popular local amenity.
- The natural beauty of the sites is preserved by maintaining the habitats that can be found here and enhancing the facilities to ensure the Linacre Reservoirs remain a beautiful, wild and accessible site.
- Nuthatches, flycatchers and woodpeckers can be seen and heard as they flit among the canopy. Kingfishers and mandarin ducks can be spotted around the water's edge.
