Updates
We’re currently carrying out essential improvement works at Linacre Water to protect the reservoirs and the surrounding landscape for the future. You can still enjoy Linacre Water during the works, although there will be some changes around the site, including temporary footpath closures.
Work is already underway, with completion expected by spring 2027.

General information
A little bit about Linacre
- Historically the three reservoirs supplied water to the nearby town of Chesterfield.
- However, they became non-operational in 1995 and today they’re managed for visitors and wildlife and provide a popular local amenity.
- Nuthatches, flycatchers and woodpeckers can be seen and heard as they flit among the canopy. Kingfishers and mandarin ducks can be spotted around the waters edge.
