Oadby residents invited to customer drop-in ahead of second phase of £1.3million network upgrade

The first phase of the works completed a week ahead of schedule
Phase two of the £1.3m project will begin on 9th January 2023
A customer drop-in ahead of the second phase will be held on 14th December
Severn Trent is inviting customers to a drop-in session to learn more about the next phase of its £1.3 million network upgrade project in Oadby, Leicester.
The project is upgrading the water network by replacing older pipes in the area, which will help to reduce incidents such as bursts and provide a continual supply of water to customers.
The second phase of the project will start on 9th January 2023 and will see new pipes installed along Leicester Road/London Road. It follows the completion of the first phase, along The Parade, a week ahead of schedule.
Customers can learn more about this final phase of the project and speak to the team at a drop-in event at Oadby Baptist Church, Leicester Road, Oadby, LE2 5BD on Wednesday 14th December from 3pm – 6pm.
Lisa Orme, Community Communications Manager at Severn Trent, said: “Network upgrades like these are vital to making sure our network is in the best shape to meet both the current and future needs of a growing population.
“Drop-in sessions are a fantastic way for us to speak directly to our customers and answer any questions they might have. Alongside this session we’ll also be sending out letters to addresses in the area in the next few weeks to make sure everyone is fully updated on the project.”
Due to the location of the pipe, a partial road closure will be in place during the works to ensure the safety of Severn Trent’s engineers and other road users. Access to properties, businesses and buses will be maintained through a signed diversion route.
Lisa added: “It's important that we reduce the impact to the community of any works, however due to the location of the pipe, we will need to put in place some temporary traffic restrictions. Our teams will be working hard to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible to minimise any inconvenience.”
