Trimpley Lagoon De-sludge

Worcestershire

Our Commitment to Cleaner, Healthier Rivers

At Severn Trent, we believe clean, healthy rivers and waterways are essential—for people, wildlife, and the environment. We know this matters to you too.

We’ve set ambitious plans across our region to:

  • Improve water treatment to reduce and remove pollution
  • Enhance water quality for the benefit of nature and communities
  • Prepare for the future, supporting population growth sustainably

We’re carrying out essential works to clean out the lagoon near Trimpley Reservoir as part of a £1.5 million investment to maintain and improve water treatment. This helps us provide the best quality water for our customers. During water treatment, materials such as silt are removed to make water safe. Over time, these materials accumulate in the lagoon, creating a natural byproduct that contains organic matter and nutrients. Removing this build-up ensures our treatment process continues to operate effectively. Your water supply will not be interrupted during this work. The improvements are focused on maintaining quality and reliability.

The materials removed from the lagoon are natural byproducts of water treatment. They will be redistributed to nearby fields and farmland that have been thoroughly sampled and approved by the Environment Agency. This approach helps restore soil health and encourage crop growth, supporting modern circular agriculture. The materials will be carefully redistributed to nearby fields and farmland to improve soil health and support crop growth.

The work is expected to take around five months to complete. There may be an increase in traffic during the project, and we apologise for any inconvenience. Access for residents and landowners will always be maintained, and deliveries will be managed locally by our on-site team.

When and where we’ll be working

Work will start early January 2026 and will take around five months to complete. You may notice an increased volume of construction traffic in the area. We have taken steps to minimise disruption by selecting fields close to the lagoon for sludge distribution.
