We’re investing in Derbyshire's future
As part of a major upgrade to the water network across Derbyshire, Severn Trent Water is replacing old water pipes along a 21km route between Mackworth and Hilton with new ones, starting in October. This essential work is part of our huge investment in the Midlands to reduce the risk of leaks and bursts, improve reliability, and ensure your supply of wonderful water stays strong for generations to come.
Work will take place in a series of phases - Phase 1 will begin on Longford Lane at the junction of Thurvaston Lane and Cropper Lane/Dickinsons Lane from Monday 20 October 2025. This phase of work will predominantly take place on private land and will finish by the end of December.
Phase 2 of the works will take place Monday 27 October 2025, starting from the junction of Sutton Lane, working along Derby Road towards Marston Lane. This phase of work will take approximately 2 months. During this phase, there will be multi way traffic lights in operation.
Following the completion of this phase, we will be returning to carry out our additional work in the area over the coming months – of course, we will communicate dates to you as soon as we can. We anticipate the full series of works to take approximately 18 months to complete.
Phase 7 of the works will take place Monday 8 December 2025, starting from the junction opposite the Whitehouse Farm, Dalbury Lees, working along the road until the team reach All Saints Church. This phase of work will take approximately 5 weeks. During this phase, the road will be closed.
Following the completion of this phase, the team will then be working on the opposite side of the road from the junction next to Whitehouse Farm.
Phase 8 of the works will take place Monday 10 November 2025, starting from Whitehouse Farm, Dalbury Lees, working along the road until the team reach Council House and Water House. This phase of work will take approximately 4 weeks. During this phase, the road will be closed.
Phase 5 of the works will take place from Monday 5 January 2026, starting from the junction with Sutton Lane, Common Lane and Longford Lane before continuing away from the junction for the remaining length of the road. This phase of work will take approximately 10 weeks. During this phase, there will be multi way traffic lights in operation.
