Terms and conditions

Entry is free.

To be in with a chance of participating in the research, you will need to complete the screening survey.

Entrants selected to take part in a research task will receive an amazon voucher to a sum outlined at clause 5 below (the “Amazon Voucher”). 

It is the responsibility of each Entrant to ensure that they have read and abided by these terms and conditions. By submitting an Entry, each Entrant agrees to comply with these terms and conditions. Any Entry found not to comply with these terms and conditions may be disqualified, and will not be entitled to any Amazon Vouchers.

STW reserves the right to suspend or modify research tasks at any time without notice to Entrants.

STW's decisions on all matters relating to research participation is final. No discussion or correspondence concerning such decisions will be entered into.

The research is only open to residents of England who hold a STW customer online account.

The research excludes those involved in the business of any licensed water and/or wastewater company in the UK, including STW or Hafren Dyfrdwy ("HD") or any of their group companies.

STW may verify the eligibility of each entrant and to refuse entry at its discretion.

Entrants must be aged 18 years or older when submitting an Entry.

Entrants can only submit an Entry once and only one Entry per household is permitted.

You may withdraw your consent to participating the research, or your details being stored on the Entrant Database, at any time by contacting us at: user.research@severntrent.co.uk.

Entrants will need to provide their:

• Name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Age bracket

Entrants may need to provide further information surrounding their demographics to enable STW to select Participants who represent a fair sample of STW customers.

Entrants will need to answer all questions in the survey to be entered into the research.  

STW will not be responsible for any Entry which is lost or delayed due to technical difficulties or malfunctions.

STW will select Participants to represent a fair sample of STW customers.

Each Participant will be notified by STW by the email address provided in the Entry if they are selected. 

Depending on the tasks, STW will select Participants based on their answers to the information provided at clause 3.

Selected Participants will receive a briefing pack outlining a brief description of the task as well as instructions for Participants to follow. The Participants will be asked whether they wish to proceed or withdraw their consent at this stage.

If the selected Participants do not respond to STW within seven (7) calendar days of notification that they have been selected, STW reserves the right to withdraw them as a Participant and choose an alternative Participant that would have been selected at the same time. The original Participant shall not be entitled to an Amazon Voucher or any alternative payment or compensation.

Participants will be responsible for their own internet connection.

At its sole discretion, STW may withdraw any Participant from a task or research session.

An Amazon Voucher will be provided to Participants who attend and complete a research session.

The sum of each Amazon Voucher shall be proportionate to the length of the research task, as further outlined below:

• 15 minutes or under – Participants are entitled to a £5 Amazon Voucher on successful completion of the research task;
• Between 15-30 minutes -  Participants are entitled to a £10 Amazon Voucher on successful completion of the research task; and
• Between 30 – 60 minutes - Participants are entitled to a £20 Amazon Voucher on successful completion of the research task.

The Amazon Voucher will be sent to the Participant's email address (provided in the Entry), within 5 working days (excluding bank holidays) of the Participant completing the research task.

The Amazon Voucher is non-transferable. No cash or alternative to the Amazon Voucher will be offered.

The following Terms and conditions apply to the Amazon Voucher.

STW cannot be held responsible for any restrictions or issues with entering the research.

The Entrant’s use of the STW website to submit an Entry is governed by the following terms and conditions (as updated from time to time): Disclaimer Terms and Conditions

STW cannot accept liability for any:

• third parties involved in research tasks; and/or
• failure of any Entrants to comply with these terms and conditions.

Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or for any matter for which it is not permitted by law to exclude or limit, or to attempt to exclude or limit, liability.

If, despite these terms and conditions, STW becomes financially liable to you in respect of our research, the maximum total amount of the liability will be £20.

STW is a “controller” of personal data of Entrants and is responsible for ensuring personal data is used in line with data protection laws (the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and Data Protection Act 2018 (“DPA”)).

STW will hold and process all personal data in accordance with the Customer Promise.  

STW will process your personal data only to administer your personal data for the purposes of improving the design, build, and function of STW digital channels and services for STW customers (the "Specified Purpose"). In processing personal data in connection with Participant selection, STW will rely on STW’s legitimate interests in using the data for the Specified Purpose.

Personal data will only be retained on the Entrant Database for a period of twelve (12) months from the date which Entrants provide their details. Any Entrants that would like their personal data to retain on the Entrant Database after the 12 month period will need to re-enter to take part in the research.

Any personal data acquired from each research activity shall only be retained for thirty (30) days from the date of the research task.

By entering the research, Entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions to the exclusion of all others.

Each clause in these terms and conditions operates separately. If any part of these terms and conditions is found by a court to be unreasonable or unenforceable, the other parts will continue to apply.

These terms and conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
