Wolverhampton residents can learn more about water network improvements

29th February 2024

Residents in the Dimmingsdale area of Wolverhampton are being invited to a drop-in session to learn more about upgrades to the local water supply.

Severn Trent is preparing to start work on a £600,000 project to lay 800m of new water pipes in the area to make sure the water network is ready to meet current and future demands. The works are expected to be completed by July 2024.

The drop-in session will take place at Victory Hall, Greyhound Lane, Wolverhampton, WV4 4UN on Tuesday 19th March from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Janine Billington, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “By renewing our network, our customers can be more confident that they have a water supply which is less prone to things like leaks and bursts which can affect customers’ supplies. We’re also making sure that our network can meet the challenges which are being presented through both climate change and population growth.

“Drop-in sessions like these are a great opportunity for us to learn more about the community, as well as for local people to find out more about the work. I’d encourage anyone who has any questions or just wants to know a bit more to come along on the day and have a chat to one of the team.

Work is due to start in February on land near to Market Lane and while most of the project is due to take place on private land, Severn Trent will need to put a temporary road closure in place on Langley Road later in the project to access the pipes running below it.

Janine continued: “While a large part of this project will take place on private land, we will need to temporarily close Langley Road while we replace the section of pipe which runs underneath it.

“We absolutely understand how frustrating and inconvenient roadworks can be and our teams will be working hard to minimise any disruption and complete this work as quickly as possible.”

A drop-in session for local people to meet the Severn Trent project team and discuss the project is currently being organised.
