Severn Trent to install new water pipes in Biddulph

Thursday 2nd February

Severn Trent is to install new water pipes in Biddulph to provide people in the town with a water supply they can rely on for the future.

The company will be replacing the pipes that deliver fresh water to residents in Gillow Heath.

Dave Kiernan, from Severn Trent, explains: “Some of our water pipes in Biddulph are getting to an age where they could become more prone to leaks and bursts and that’s why we’ve taken the decision to replace these pipes.

“We’ll be working as quickly as possible to complete the project and will aim to cause as little disruption as possible to local people.”

The new pipes will be installed beneath Mow Lane, starting from the junction of Whetstone Road and finishing just past the junction of Underwood. The project is due to begin on Monday 6 February and should be complete within six weeks.

Dave continues: “Our contractors Amey will be working in 100m-200m sections along the road in order to minimise disruption to traffic.

“We’ll need to use temporary road closures to allow our engineers to work safely but fully sign-posted diversions will be in place throughout the duration of the work and we’ll keep restricted access to homes and business to a minimum.”
