Severn Trent continues work on new water pipes in Malvern

Tuesday 4th April

Severn Trent is continuing work to install new pipes in Malvern to make sure local people have a water supply they can rely on.

The next phase of the £7m project will see the company install the new  pipes beneath the A449 Worcester Road, with engineers planning to begin  work tomorrow (5 April).

Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, explains: “This new pipeline is really important and will make sure that local residents and businesses have a water supply that can be relied upon for years to come.”

To allow engineers to work safely, two-way traffic lights will be in place on the A449 Worcester Road between North Malvern Road and Zetland Road. There will be no access between North Malvern Road and the A449 during the work, a local diversion will be in place. If everything goes to plan the engineers should be finished by the end of April.

Gareth continues: “We know there’s never a good time to disrupt traffic but we’ve timed this work to make sure a large amount of it will take place during the school holidays when there are fewer vehicles on the road.

"Our contractors from MMB will work as quickly as possible to get the new pipes installed and return everything to normal. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes.”
