Severn Trent works are progressing well in Great Barrow

June 23rd, 2025

A project in Great Barrow that sees Severn Trent investing £3.2million to replace ageing water pipes is progressing well and moving onto the next phase of the project.

Work began back in March and teams are advancing well as they have already installed 4km of the 13km of pipe in the village.

To make sure the project is completed as quickly as possible, there are two teams on site working at different locations and this is set to continue.

Team one is progressing well between the junction of Wildmoor Lane along Station Lane to the Railway Bridge. This section of work will be complete in June. Team two is currently working along Barnhouse Lane towards Norton Lane and this has now finished.

Works will go ahead in pashed sections starting Station Lane to the junction of Hawkins Views this week and will be completed in August with the last section being the junction of Irons Lane along Hollowmoor Heath to Heath Lane junction.

Catherine Webb, Community Communications Officer for Severn Trent, said: “Once again, we would like to thank the whole community for their ongoing support and patience while these works are taking place.

“We know that works like this can be disruptive, and we are doing all we can to minimise this and get the works completed as quickly and safely as possible.

“If anyone has any questions about the work, please do get in touch with us or speak to the teams on site, who will be only too happy to engage with you and let you know what is going on.”

When work is going ahead, access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained. However, there may be occasions when vehicle access to a property is restricted for short periods of time. We will let customers know in advance if this is going to be the case.

Anyone who owns or operates a business which receives visiting customers who purchase goods or services, and the works will affect sales income, contact the Severn Trent Business Loss Team by emailing businessloss@severntrent.co.uk for further advice.
