Severn Trent welcomes over 60 new apprentices!

Tuesday 31st August 2021

As part of Severn Trent’s ongoing commitment to building the skills of the next generation and providing meaningful employment opportunities across the region, it’s proud to welcome its next cohort of apprentices through the doors.

The FTSE 100 company that serves over 8 million customers across the Midlands, has this week welcomed over 60 new joiners onto its 2021 apprentice programmes, who will now start their careers at the company.

Jade Pearson, New Talent Manager from Severn Trent said: “We’re really proud that despite the challenges faced over the last 18 months we’ve still created a breadth of apprenticeships for over 60 people through our apprenticeship programme and welcomed them into our organisation.

“Our apprentices really help to shape everything we do and their passion and enthusiasm is what makes a difference. Bringing in new talent helps keep things fresh and innovative and it was important to us that we were able to provide opportunities for people in our communities who will in turn help us develop and provide the best for our customers.”

Severn Trent has this year taken on 62 new apprentices a 37% increase on last year.

Last week, the apprentices had their week long induction, meeting each other, learning about the business and the key roles they will play in throughout their careers at the company.

“Whatever area of the business our apprentices join, each and every single one of them will bring with them skills and talent that will continue to improve our performance and ensure our customers receive the best possible service from us,” adds Jade. “We offer an essential service and it won’t take long for all of them to make a real impact. We’re really excited for them to get stuck in and start making a difference.”

The new joiners will be taking up roles within the company’s varied apprenticeship scheme that includes programmes such as HR, Marketing and Communications, Technology, Accountancy, Project Management, Agriculture, Maintenance and Engineering.
