Severn Trent urges people to keep safe and out of its reservoirs as the region gears up for high temperatures

Friday 17 June 2022

As temperatures across the region are set to rise, Severn Trent is issuing a reminder for visitors to keep safe, and to not take a dip in one of its reservoirs.

With temperatures expected to hit the mid to late twenties on Friday, Severn Trent is advising anyone who is thinking about cooling off in the water to keep safe and to keep out.

Because of strong currents, freezing temperatures and hidden dangers under the surface, reservoirs can be dangerous places to swim.

Dan Taberner, Visitor Experience Manager at Severn Trent, said: “It’s always fantastic to see people enjoying our wonderful sites and while we really want to encourage people to enjoy themselves in the lovely weather, we’d like to remind people to stay out of the water.

“We know how tempting reservoirs can look in the warm weather, but we don’t have lifeguards on site or safe swimming areas, so we’d ask visitors to not take that risk.”
