Severn Trent urges customers to sign up for text alerts this winter

12th December 2018

Water company Severn Trent has urged its millions of customers to provide the company with their mobile telephone number this winter.

The region's water and waste provider has made the call as part of a drive to ensure customers are kept personally updated if there are any burst pipes or leaks in their area during the cold winter period.

Jodie Bowen from Severn Trent, said: "Signing up to our text messaging service means that customers don't have to worry about checking our website during an emergency, or call into our customer service team. Instead, the updates can come directly through to their mobiles via text message.

"It's a service which is all about communicating with our customers quickly and effectively. It provides them with the latest information if our engineers are fixing their water supply, and with a cold winter ahead, we're urging as many customers as possible to sign up."

Customers can sign up to Severn Trent's text messaging service by simply texting YES to 60267. Three short questions are then asked to enable the customer account to be located and verified.
