Severn Trent to host drop-in session to discuss major project to replace ageing water pipes
June 9th, 2025
Severn Trent is inviting the Lower Broadheath community along to a drop-in session to discuss a new scheme to replace ageing water pipes and provide customers with a more reliable water supply for generations to come.
Work on the project will begin no later than September of this year and the event is going ahead to make sure everyone is fully informed about the work and give the community a chance to share their views and information about their local area with the project team.
A total of £3.5million is being invested into Lower Broadheath to replace water pipes that are showing their age resulting in disruptive leaks and bursts.
Everyone is welcome to the drop-in session, which is taking place at The Bell Inn, Martley Road, Lower Broadheath, WR2 6QG, on Wednesday, June 11th between 4.30pm and 7pm.
Angela Boote, Community Liaison Officer for Worcestershire, said: “We are looking forward to speaking with our Lower Broadheath customers and talking to them about our plans, which we know is of huge importance to the community and listening to their views.
“We know that works like this can be disruptive, but please be assured that our team on site will do everything they can keep disruption to a minimum.
“We urge everyone to come along to our session, find out more about the planned works and discuss everything that the team will be doing.”
These works come as Severn Trent gears up for its new mains renewal programme which is one of the largest projects in the UK’s water network for more than a decade.
Over the next five years, Severn Trent is investing £15billion across its region, creating 7,000 new jobs. Specifically in Worcestershire, we’ll be working on a transformational £320million investment programme to improve services for our customers, boost water supplies, and further improve river health.
Around £415million will be invested across the whole of the area served by the water company, creating more than 440 jobs and renewing nearly 870 miles of old water pipes by 2030.
Laura Holloway, Community Communications Manager for Severn Trent, added: “We know that these essential upgrades are something the Lower Broadheath community has not only been eager to see but also deserve and we’re pleased to be at a stage where we can deliver them.
“By investing in modern, resilient infrastructure, we’re not only reducing the risk of leaks and bursts but also ensuring a more reliable water supply for years to come.
“This project is about more than just pipes—it’s about supporting the wellbeing of the community and laying the foundations for a stronger service for the future.”
