Severn Trent to host customer drop-in for new water pipes in Long Compton

Severn Trent is inviting local residents in the Long Compton area to a drop-in session to hear about how the company will make water supplies in the area more reliable. This scheme will invest £320,000 to replace 3km of the main water pipe on Barton Road, from Barton-on-the-Heath to Long Compton.

The company are hosting a drop-in meeting on Wednesday 6 November 2019 at Long Compton Village Hall, Main Street, Long Compton, Warwickshire, CV36 5JJ, from 4:30pm to 7pm, for customers to ask any questions before the work begins.

Roisin McBain, from Severn Trent, explains “Over time our water pipes start to show their age and the risk of bursts and leaks increases.  In this area in particular we know that there have been a lot of bursts on this pipe over the last few years.  So replacing the old water pipes on Barton Road with brand new ones can ensure supplies are secure for the future.”

“We’d really encourage local people to come along to our drop in session to find out more about the planned work.  Local residents can meet the team and learn more about our work, but also give their views - after all, the people who know the area best are the local residents - we’re hoping that by talking to the community, they will help us to find those little gems of information which can make a huge difference to our plans.”

The work is due to start on 11 November 2019 and will take approximately six weeks to complete.  Unfortunately, to keep pedestrians, road users and the onsite team safe and ensure the work is completed as quickly as possible, the road will be closed for the duration of the work.
Roisin adds “We know that we may cause some inconvenience for the local community, and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected by this work and to ask for their patience.  We won’t be there for long, but this work will help us to keep the water running for our customers for years to come.”
