Severn Trent has launched it’s new, live online education sessions, to support its customers and communities who are home schooling during lockdown.

The company has created the live interactive sessions and made them easily available for anyone to join, and will run four times a day throughout lockdown.

Megan Robertson, Community Education Officer said: “We know that our customers have again found themselves in a position they may not have been expecting, and now have to face the challenge of home-schooling the children.

“That’s why we’ve adapted our education programme, so we can still deliver a fun, educational online session that will keep the kids entertained, while also teaching them all about the water cycle, looking after our sewers and the environment.”

Severn Trent’s Education Team are usually found delivering interactive workshops in schools across its region, but since the pandemic started, it’s adapted its sessions to be virtual, as well as launching Kids Zone.

“We really hope that our online sessions can help make a difference and support those with home-schooling at the moment, as we know it may be tricky to find things that are educational as well as entertaining,” adds Megan. “The sessions have been designed to be fun, interactive, and educational, and with us hosting them live in real-time, we’re also able to answer any questions and fully interact with the children.

“We’ve also made it really easy to join, there’s no need for any downloads or software, you just simply follow a link and join in!”

The education sessions will be hosted live, where the children can see the host, but the host will not be able to see those who join. They will run up to one hour, four times a day from Monday to Friday, at 9:00, 10:30, 13:00 and 14:00. Giving children and adults the flexibility of when to join at a time that works best for them.
