Severn Trent to carry out essential work at Hopwood Services off M42 in Alvechurch

Friday 27th April 2018

Severn Trent is carrying out essential work in Alvechurch to clear a blockage from its sewer pipes this weekend.

The company is working on Redditch Road and will require traffic management to keep teams and road users safe, which may cause issues for the users of the nearby Hopwood Park motorway services

.Clare Ryman, Senior Network Technician from Severn Trent, said, “It’s really important that we’re able to clear this blockage so it doesn’t get worse and cause problems like flooding in people’s homes.

“We appreciate that this work could cause delays for drivers but it’s really important that our teams are kept safe as they work on clearing the blockage.”

Severn Trent contractors Amey will be carrying out the work on behalf of the company and will be working close to The Hopwood House pub and will be using two-way traffic lights.

The company is aiming to have the work completed by Monday.

“We’re really sorry if this causes an inconvenience to anyone travelling around the area over the weekend,” added Clare. “Our priority will be to complete the work as quickly as possible and get everything back to normal as soon as we can.”

To help prevent blockages and to keep pipes clear, Severn Trent asks its customers to bin all fats, oils and greases and to not flush any sanitary items such as wipes and nappies.
