Severn Trent reminds people that some visitor sites remain closed over the bank holiday weekend

Thursday 21 May 2020

Severn Trent is continuing to remind people that some of its visitor sites are still closed ahead of the long bank holiday weekend.

The company opened a number of smaller sites earlier in the week, but is advising that larger sites still remain closed.

The sites now open include:

• Trimpley in Worcestershire;

• Shustoke near Birmingham;

• Ogston in Derbyshire;

• Priorslee in Telford;

• Nanpantan in Leicestershire;

• Linacre In Derbyshire;

• Thornton in Leicestershire, and

• Stanford in Leicestershire.

Donna Marshall, Senior Visitor Engagement Officer said: “We know all of our sites are incredibly popular, and that people want to get out and enjoy the weather, but it’s so important that we only open a site when we’re confident it’s safe to do so, for the care of our staff and visitors.

“At the moment, we still only have a limited number of sites open, so we’re asking that people only visit those sites that are currently open, while we work on our plans to open the rest in the coming weeks.”

Severn Trent closed all visitor sites in March, to help limit the spread of coronavirus, and teams have been working to put special measures in place so it can start to reopen some sites again.

The company started by opening some of its smaller sites on Wednesday, and only when its confident plans are working, and social distancing being maintained, will it open more sites over the coming weeks.

 “For anyone planning to visit our open sites this weekend, we’d encourage you not to travel too far as some of our sites are getting busy and we are having to limit numbers on occasion,” adds Donna. “We also ask you to keep safe on site and always social distance, and to keep out of the water at all times.”

Severn Trent will be monitoring visitor numbers, and advises sites will close if too many people turn up at once

.The company encourages checking ahead of travelling to any site, to understand what measures are in place and what facilities are open.
