Severn Trent inviting community along to drop-in event to share progress on Etruria improvements

30th June, 2025

Severn Trent is inviting customers to a drop-in session to learn more about the progress a multi-million pound project has made to help prevent flooding and improve river health in Stoke-on-Trent.

The water company is investing £17million to carry out essential improvements being made to the wastewater system in Etruria Vale.

Work, currently underway in the field off Etruria Vale Road behind Warwick Street and Timmis Street and involves the installation of a new underground storage tank.

This tank will collect and store wastewater during periods of heavy rainfall, helping to prevent flooding and increase the capacity of the local sewer network.

This project is part of Severn Trent’s wider commitment to improving river health across the region by reducing storm overflow spills and enhancing infrastructure resilience.

A community event is set to take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 to give residents in the area an opportunity to see how the scheme is progressing and what is next.

The drop-in session also offers residents the opportunity to speak directly with the project team, ask questions, and share feedback about the work and its impact on the local area.

The event will be running from 3pm to 6pm at Etruria Industrial Museum, Etruria Vale Road, ST1 4RB.

Charlene Richards, Community Communications Officer for Severn Trent, said: “This is a really important project for us in Stoke-on-Trent to make sure we are doing all we can to improve river health and once completed, this project will do this.

“We have already hosted a community event and thought it would be good to host another to keep everyone informed of what’s going on and provide a chance for customers to ask questions.

“We understand that works like this can be an inconvenience, and we want to thank everyone for their patience as we continue our work. We look forward to welcoming everyone along to the drop-in and have a chance to talk about our work.”

Anyone with any questions during office hours can contact the project team on 07789 904 017. Please quote the project title: Etruria Vale.
