Severn Trent invites business leaders to apprentice event

Tuesday 23 October 2018

Businesses have been invited to a free event which will see recruitment experts from Severn Trent talking through their award-winning apprentice programme.

The event will take place between 9am and 10am on Wednesday 28th November at Severn Trent’s Coventry headquarters - with presentations from HR specialists on making the most of the Apprenticeship Levy and how Severn Trent has attracted the region’s rising stars into its programme.

Mark Smith, Severn Trent’s Senior Learning and Development Advisor, said: “Every business across the Midlands is recruiting in a really competitive market place and this also rings true for apprentices.

“We’ve worked hard over the past few years to make Severn Trent an attractive option for young people and promoted the wide variety of roles on offer. It’s a strategy that’s working and is helping to plug future skills gaps, especially with the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy.

“Our seminar in November is ideal for the region’s business owners and HR teams to hear how we’ve turned our apprenticeship programme into a nationally-recognised scheme, the challenges we’ve faced, and how our experiences can help others.”

Severn Trent currently has 29 apprentices as part of its 2018 intake. Since 2013, the company has taken on almost 240 apprentices into its scheme in a variety of roles including operations, maintenance, project management, HR, legal and finance.
