Severn Trent invests £2.2million to future-proof the water supply in Dimmingsdale
October 31st, 2025
Severn Trent is investing £2.2 million in essential improvements to a key operational borehole site located in Wolverhampton.
The work will be taking place off Dimmingsdale Road to help secure clean, reliable drinking water for homes in the local area for generations to come.
The site plays a vital role in supplying water to the community, and the planned maintenance and rehabilitation work will extend the lifespan of the boreholes, improve resilience, and prepare the network for the challenges of a changing climate and increasing demand.
Work will begin with the setup of a temporary site compound in November and December 2025, with full construction activity starting in January 2026 and continuing until April 2027.
It is important that customers note that all work will take place within the boundary of the Severn Trent site, meaning no road closures will be required.
To minimise disruption, Severn Trent and its contract partner Marriott Drilling will install acoustic barriers and screening to reduce noise and light.
The site will also be equipped with noise and vibration monitoring equipment to ensure impacts are kept to a minimum.
Janine Billington, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “This £2.2 million investment is a vital step in protecting water supplies for the future.
“By upgrading and maintaining our borehole infrastructure, we’re making sure our customers continue to receive high-quality water, even as demand grows and climate conditions change.
“We’re committed to keeping disruption to a minimum and we’re incredibly grateful to the local community for their continued patience and support.”
Severn Trent does not anticipate any impact to customers’ water or waste services during the work.
