Severn Trent investing £200k on new pipes for Coaley in Gloucestershire

Thursday 6th November 2025

Severn Trent is investing £200,000 into laying new pipes to provide a modern and secure water network for residents in rural Gloucestershire.

The project is taking place between the junctions of Hamshill and The Ham and Silver Street and The Ham in Coaley.

Work begins on 10th November and will last for up to eight weeks, with a road closure being put in place along The Ham to protect workers and the public.

Earlier this year, Severn Trent announced plans to recruit 440 new team members to help replace nearly 870 miles of old water pipes across the region by 2030.

A total of £63 million is being invested across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire to deliver 155 miles of new pipelines, creating around 50 new jobs.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “The Coaley scheme is one of many we’re undertaking across Gloucestershire, to replace old infrastructure and create a more secure water future.

“We will be ensuring we keep disruption to a minimum and our teams will be working as hard as possible to complete the project as quickly as possible.

“We do understand how frustrating road closures are for people, but they are needed to keep our crews and members of the public safe.

“This investment will ensure we provide an ever improving water system with few supply interruptions - benefitting locals now and the generations to come.”
