Long Whatton Road Closure for Emergency Sewer Repair

19th March 2018

We are planning to carry out an emergency repair on the sewer network and in order for this to be done safely, we are having to close a section of the road.

Why are we doing this work?

Following a report of a sewer flooding last week we identified a collapsed sewer underneath the highway. We've set up pumps in the road to maintain the sewer flow for our customers nearby. These pumps require 2 way traffic lights to ensure safety prior to the repair.

Unfortunately, in order to undertake the repair safely we will have to put a full road closure in place.

When is the work taking place?

This emergency work will start on Wednesday 21 March 2018 and will take approximately 10 days to complete, we will be working as quickly as possible to ensure we keep the duration to a minimum.

Where is the work taking place?

The road will be closed at this location with a signed diversion in place, as below.

Access to properties will remain through the signed diversion.  The local bus company have been informed and will run their service through the diversion.

Who do I contact about these works?

Our contract partner, Amey, will complete the work on our behalf and they can be contacted on 08000 22 43 38.

They will ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and all work areas will be restored to their present condition.
