It’s business as usual for Severn Trent this Christmas

Monday 21st December

Teams at the company will be on hand to fix burst pipes and unblock sewers this festive season, making sure that all its customers get the same great service no matter what day of the year it is.

Jodie Bowen, customer contact lead explains: "We appreciate that it’s been a very strange year for everyone and we want to reassure our customers that we’re here to help with any water or waste issues that happen over the festive period. Whether it’s for boiling those sprouts or making a nice cup of tea, we’re there to make sure you’ve got water when you need it, and our teams will also be making sure our waste treatment works are also ready to handle the waste water from the washing up of everyone’s Christmas dinners.

"While many people will be tucking into their turkey, we’ll have people in our call centres and field teams ready to fix burst pipes and clear sewer blockages. So if you are unfortunate enough to have an urgent water or sewage issue at any time, especially over Christmas, we’ll be here, ready to deal with it. Please tweet us @stwater, visit our website stwater.co.uk or give us a call on our 24/7 emergency line, 0800 783 4444, and we'll be happy to help."

There are also a few small changes that customers can make to avoid a water meltdown this winter.

Jodie added: “From binning cooled cooking oil, fat and grease from Christmas dinner, rather than washing it down the drain, to lagging external pipes and reporting any leaks you spot, small changes can make a big difference when it comes to helping prevent blocked drains and prepare their homes for the colder weather. We have some great advice on our website showing the small steps our customers can take to avoid any problems this winter.

The call centre dealing with customer bills enquiries will be open as usual; 8am till 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am till 3pm on Saturdays and 8am till 5pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, but closed on bank holidays.
