Erewash MP visits Severn Trent labs

11 June 2019

Maggie Throup, MP for Erewash, was given a personal tour of water company Severn Trent’s new lab at Church Wilne Water Treatment Works in Long Eaton.

The new labs, which cost £3m to build, employ more than 40 people who carry out more than 200,000 tests every year to ensure water supplied to customers is of a suitably high standard.

“It was great to be able to take a look round to see all of the testing work Severn Trent carries out on its supplies to make absolutely certain it meets every standard,” said Maggie.

“It’s good to know that my constituents can rely on the quality of their water.”

The laboratories bring all of Severn Trent’s sampling and microbiological analysis in the East Midlands under one roof, enabling continuous improvement in the service the company delivers for its customers.

Nicola Griffin, Microbiology Manager from Severn Trent, said: “It was great to welcome Maggie to the labs and to show her around and all of the great work the team carries out every day to make sure our customers can take advantage of our wonderful water.”
