Chance to learn more about next phase of major water pipe upgrade in the Ratcliffe Culey area
January 12th, 2026
Severn Trent is investing £3million to upgrade its water network in Leicestershire and customers are being invited to a special event to learn more about the work and ask questions.
The water company will host an event to help everyone stay informed about the important works, how they will provide vital upgrades for the community, as well as help them understand traffic management plans, and receive support ahead of the upcoming scheme.
A community drop-in session will take place at Sheepy Memorial Hall on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026. Running between 3.30pm and 6pm, it will be a chance for everyone to speak directly with the project team, ask questions, and share any thoughts.
Helen Purdy, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “The drop-in sessions are an opportunity for people to have face to face conversations about the works, ask questions, understand the plans more, and tell us about anything they might need while the work is under way.
“We know that this essential work can be inconvenient, and that is why we are hosting this event to let everyone know what’s going on and where are teams will be.
“We’ll continue to do everything we can to minimise disruption while delivering long term improvements for residents and businesses.”
Severn Trent will begin its upgrade of water pipes on Sibson Road between the A444 and Main Road on Monday, January 19th to help ensure a reliable, high quality water supply for years to come.
Work will move onto other roads in mid-March with completion expected in September 2026.
Customers are advised that all businesses will remain open throughout the duration of the works. Access for residents will be maintained wherever possible. There may be short periods when vehicle access is restricted while works take place directly outside properties; residents will be notified in advance.
Severn Trent is also asking residents to keep the working area free of parked cars to help the team progress safely and efficiently.
Any retail businesses that experience a loss of sales income as a result of the works are encouraged to contact the Business Loss Team for guidance by emailing businessloss@severntrent.co.uk
