Public encouraged to vote on the TEN projects to receive £2,500 funding and volunteer support
12 August 2025
From the 11 August to 8 September, Severn Trent customers are being urged to cast their votes in the water company’s NeighbourGOOD scheme and choose TEN projects to win £2,500 funding – plus volunteers.
The new community initiative was launched in September 2024 to support local causes that matter most by offering the grant, as well as hands-on help from volunteer employees. The launch of the public vote marks the second year of the NeighbourGOOD Scheme.
Severn Trent received a number of applications from across the region, and is now calling on the public to take a look through the shortlist and pick the top ten to receive the grant and volunteer support.
The shortlist of all of the projects to make it through to the public vote is available to view on the Severn Trent website. From there, people will be able to pick their favourites, with the winners announced in September.
Last year, winners of the NeighbourGOOD Scheme included the likes of Diversifying Education, who received the grant and volunteer support to help refurbish their community hub, after the project was complete, they said: “We really appreciated the support from Severn Trent to help us refurbish our community centre. Our centre acts as a hub for some of the most vulnerable people in our community, so we’re really appreciative of the support we have had from Severn Trent and their volunteers.”
Other winners included, Stivichall Primary School, who used the grant and volunteer support to create a new communal garden. As well as Flourish & Nourish, who received support to create a community allotment.
Liz Heath, Social Impact Lead at Severn Trent, said: “It was great to see so many applications for the NeighbourGOOD scheme again this year, which shows just how important projects like this are to our communities.
“Last year we had over 13,000 votes from the public, with so many people visiting our website and voting for the cause closest to them. We’re encouraging as many people to vote again and have their say.”
The scheme is being run across all counties served by Severn Trent, including in the East and West Midlands.
Liz added: “We’re determined to make our region a better place by being more than just a water company to our communities.
“NeighbourGOOD is just one example of how we are helping our communities, along with our Community Fund and affordability and support into work schemes.”
