Severn Trent Water Limited is the controller of the personal data it collects and processes in connection with the administration of the #WildBrushing Competition, including reviewing entries, reposting competition videos, selecting winners, contacting winners and fulfilling prizes.

When you enter the competition, we may process:

• Your TikTok username, display name and profile image.
• Your competition video submission and any audio included within it.
• Information visible within your video, such as your image or voice.
• Direct messages or emails relating to the competition.

If you are selected as a winner, we may also collect:

• Full name.
• Email address.
• Confirmation of age.
• Confirmation that you live within the Severn Trent Water service area.

If a winner is under 18 years old, we will also collect:

• Parent or legal guardian name.
• Parent or legal guardian email address.
• Confirmation of parental or guardian consent.

We encourage anyone under the age of 18 to discuss their participation with a parent or guardian before entering the competition.

We use your personal data to:

• Identify and review eligible competition entries.
• Verify that competition requirements have been met.
• Select and contact winners.
• Verify eligibility and arrange prize fulfilment.
• Administer and manage the competition.
• Repost competition content in connection with the Wild Brushing campaign on Severn Trent’s TikTok account.

We process personal data relating to the competition under the following UK GDPR lawful bases:

• Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR – Contract, as processing is necessary to administer the competition and fulfil obligations associated with participation.
• Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR – Legitimate Interests, to run and administer the competition, assess entries, select winners, and promote the competition and related water-efficiency campaigns. We have carefully considered the impact of this processing on participants and believe it is reasonable, proportionate, and does not override individuals' rights and freedoms.
• Article 6(1)(c) UK GDPR – Legal Obligation, to comply with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing and demonstrate that a valid prize draw has taken place, Severn Trent may disclose the winner’s surname and county if requested.

Winners will be given the opportunity to object to their information being published or made available, or to reduce the amount of information published or made available. Where a winner objects, Severn Trent will not publish or make the information available to the public. However, Severn Trent may still be required to provide the winner’s details and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority upon request for compliance purposes.

The competition does not intentionally collect special category data. However, participants may voluntarily include information within their videos that could reveal:

• Health information.
• Ethnic origin.
• Religious beliefs.
• Political opinions.

Where such information is incidentally processed, Severn Trent relies on:

• Article 9(2)(e) UK GDPR – Personal data manifestly made public by the data subject, as entrants voluntarily publish their videos on TikTok using the competition hashtag. 

Your personal data may be shared with:

• Authorised Severn Trent employees involved in administering the competition.
• Members of the public and TikTok users globally, where competition content is published by entrants on TikTok or reshared by Severn Trent through its TikTok account as part of the Wild Brushing campaign. This content may be viewed in countries outside the United Kingdom where privacy and data protection laws may differ from those that apply in the UK.
