Bereavement support

We’re deeply sorry you’ve lost someone you love. We want to do everything we can to help and support you during this difficult time.

Taking the next steps together

When you’re ready, we’re here to help you manage the final details of your loved one’s account with as much care and as little stress as possible.

Here’s everything you need to know about what information to provide, how to let us know of a loved one passing away and how we, and some of our partner organisations can support you.

We know this can feel overwhelming, so we’ll keep things as simple as possible. To help us close the account of the person who has passed away, please provide:

As part of the ‘Failure to Prevent fraud offence,’ in some circumstances we require Proof of Executorship to be provided. We’ll only ask for this when absolutely necessary.

The documents we accept for Proof of Executorship are:

For further information on how to obtain the relevant documents please visit Gov.uk and Citizens Advice.

Alternatively, if there is no intention for the Executor(s) to apply for Grant of Representation, we will ask for you to fill out our Small Estates Form. This mean you can request the transfer of any remaining balance from a deceased individual’s account to your own, without the need to provide a Grant of Representation or Grant of Probate.

After you have shared the details of yourself and the account holder, we’ll update the account and send any future bills or correspondence to the address you provide.

If there’s an outstanding balance, we’ll contact you to discuss payment. If the account is in credit, we’ll process a refund and let you know when it’s on its way — all in a way that works best for you.
