Environmental Incentive Scheme

If you’re a developer, you may qualify for a financial incentive when you meet the criteria. These incentives are reviewed annually and paid at the rate in place when your application is submitted.

You’ll need to let us know that you intend to apply for an incentive when you submit your initial application for a water service connection. For wastewater‑only connections, please notify us when you apply for the wastewater connection.

Please allow us 15 working days from the date of your Environmental Incentive application in case we need to carry out a physical audit of your property.

We’ll carry out a desktop audit for every application. If your application doesn’t pass the first time, we’ll work with you to put things right and give you one opportunity to resubmit. If the application doesn’t pass the second desktop review for the same property, it unfortunately won’t be eligible for an incentive payment.

If your application passes the desktop audit, we may then carry out a physical audit of the property. This could be done in person, through a video call, or via self‑serve video and photos you provide.

Please allow us 15 working days from the date of your Environmental Incentive application to complete any required audit. The property must remain unoccupied and in your ownership during this period. By applying, you’re agreeing to these audit requirements.

If a property does not pass the physical audit, the incentive payment cannot be made. You may choose to defer audits for other properties scheduled for the same visit, but please note that a re‑audit fee will apply. Incentives cannot be paid for properties that do not pass, and repeated failures will result in a financial penalty.
