Our drought plan

Learn more about our drought plan.

What is a drought plan and why do we need to do it?

Although periods of drought are few and far between in the UK - they do happen and when they do, we need to be prepared for them. Droughts happen when the average rainfall for prolonged periods of time, as it usually coincides with hot weather we see the demand for water rising - putting pressure on our network, so we need to plan carefully to manage

our processes when droughts happen to prevent our customers being off supply.

The Water Act (2003) has made it a statutory requirement for all water companies to produce and maintain a drought plan. We update these plans every five years. Our drought plan sets out how we will manage our resources and supply system in dry spells to maintain an above standard service to our customers.
