Severn Trent visitor sites to ho-ho-host Christmas Trails

30th November 2023

Families looking for a great, low-cost day out this December are being invited along to Severn Trent’s visitor sites to take part in the annual Christmas Trails.

The trails will run from 10am – 3pm every day from 9th December to 1st January (except Christmas Day) at Carsington Water in Derbyshire, Warwickshire’s Draycote Water and Tittesworth Water in Staffordshire.

Families can pick up a trail sheet from the visitor centre or on-site hub for just £3 and take a walk around the picturesque reservoirs, finding the trail markers along the way to win a prize (non-dairy alternatives are available).

Alongside the annual Christmas trails – which are open every day except Christmas Day from 10am-3pm from 9th December to 1st January – visitors to Carsington Water can also pick up some Christmas gifts at the courtyard shops and enjoy festive treats at the onsite café and restaurant.

There will also be a festive pop-up weekend taking place at Carsington Water on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December, with lots of local gifts available, from art and skincare to cheese and wine. There is also free parking on Saturdays in December after 2pm, giving you even more great value from your day out (parking charges apply outside of these times).

Donna Marshall, Visitor Engagement Manager at Severn Trent, said: “The holiday season is back again and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to Christmas at Carsington this year. As well as our usual Christmas Trails, which offer a great fun, low-cost day out for the family and a chance for kids to get some fresh air by following the trail around the reservoir, visitors to Carsington this year will also be able to drop in to our on-site shops to pick up some wonderful Christmas gifts.”

No advanced bookings are required, and visitors are invited to come along on the day and time that suits them.

Draycote Water is less than an hour from Birmingham and only 30 minutes from the centre of Coventry, while Tittesworth is on the doorstep of Leek and can be reached in less than an hour from Stoke on Trent.

Less than an hour from Nottingham and only 30 minutes from the centre of Derby, Carsington Water offers visitors a range of activities and on-site facilities including a café and restaurant, shops, and children’s play area.

Severn Trent's visitor sites offer an array of activities on the water, including fishing, sailing, and watersports and are ideal for walking, cycling or horse riding along a selection of routes.
