Severn Trent launches new digital education experience!

Tuesday 3rd November 2020

Severn Trent has gone digital and is now offering interactive live discovery learning sessions in schools!

The Midlands-based water and waste company has adapted its in-person education programme, and is now hosting interactive live discovery learning sessions through video link.

Dave Cork, Senior Education Officer said: “We know that it’s a tough time for schools with the Covid restrictions and lockdown now in place, so we’ve designed a completely new, web-based offering that allows schools access to our live education session, by simply hitting a link.

“We’ve quickly adapted our programme and invested in new technology, so although we’re unable to visit schools in person at the moment, the children can still learn all about our favourite topics through a live stream directly into class rooms, without the need for any new hardware or software, just access to the internet.”

In the latest education offering from the company, the digital web session means children and teachers can fully interact and ask questions, as the Severn Trent team will be delivering the session live, in real time.

The company also earlier this year launched its fully online virtual learning experience, Kids Zone, for children to enjoy during lockdown.

“We really didn’t want the children missing out on the experience, and we really do care about teaching the younger generation all about our favourite topics such as water, blockages and the environment,” adds Dave. “We’ve all had to adapt and change how we do things this year and we’re really pleased that we’re able to deliver our fun educational workshops, safely through video link direct into classrooms across the region.

“When lockdown is lifted, we will look to go back to face to face visits in schools, however, with this new digital offer, we’re making sure that we’re completely accessible for all schools, whatever their preference may be.”
