Planned improvements

East and Central Newark - East and Central Newark - Water Improvements

We're renewing some of the existing water pipes to reduce the risk of bursts and discoloration. We are also planning to install a number of new valves across our network to improve flexibility, however these valve works are small scale and are not included in the descriptions below.

Sluice Valves (SVs)

We are currently installing new Sluice Valves at Beacon Heights. This will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions. This work commenced in May 2019 and will take between four and six weeks to complete.

New supply and distribution mains

Construction of 11km of new, clean water supply and distribution pipes, across fields to the East of the town, is progressing well. As part of the process, topsoil is stripped and pipes are then laid before being backfilled. We have installed over 10km of the pipes. The new pipes will help to ensure that Newark has a resilient water supply now and in the future, providing for the 42% population increase that is included as part of Newark and Sherwood District Council's local plan.

Work completed
Water Mains Renewal

We have now completed Mains Renewal Works in and around Lincoln Road Bridge, which will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions and discoloration.

Blatherwick Road - water main renewal

We have finished replacing the existing water mains on Blatherwick Road, this will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions and discoloration.

Trent Crossing works

We installed the final part of our Trent Crossing Works on Tolney Lane in February, meaning this package of works is now completed. Along with the additional new water pipeline near to the Great North Road Trent Crossing and new short section of pipework on The Wharf, this will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions due to bursts.

Great North Road

We have finished installing a new additional water pipeline near to the Great North Road River Trent Crossing. This will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions due to pipe bursting.

Pressure reducing valves (PRVs)

A new PRV has been installed on Barnby Gate. This will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions caused by burst pipes.

Sluice valves

A new Sluice Valve has now been installed at Sleaford Road. This will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions.
