East and Central Newark - East and Central Newark - Water Improvements

We're renewing some of the existing water pipes to reduce the risk of bursts and discoloration. We are also planning to install a number of new valves across our network to improve flexibility, however these valve works are small scale and are not included in the descriptions below.

Upcoming work
Water Mains Renewal

We are going to be doing Mains Renewal Works in and around Lincoln Road Bridge, this will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions and discoloration.

Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV)

We are going to install our final new PRV on Barnby Gate. This will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions via pipe bursts. Works are dependent upon sewer works in the same area; likely to be undertaken in June 2018.

Sluice Valves (SVs)

We are going to install new Sluice Valves on Beacon Heights and on Sleaford Road. These will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions.

Work in progress
New supply and distribution mains

Construction of the 11km of new clean water supply and distribution mains across fields to the East of the town continues progress. As part of the process topsoil is stripped and pipes are then laid before being backfilled. As of the June 2018 we have completed 9.8km of the pipeline. These pipes will help to ensure that Newark has a resilient water supply in the future and will provide water for the 45% population increase that is included for in Newark and Sherwood District Councils local plan.

Work completed
Blatherwick Road - water main renewal

We have finished replacing the existing water mains on Blatherwick Road, this will help to reduce the risk of supply interruptions and discoloration.

Trent Crossing works

We installed the final part of our Trent Crossing Works on Tolney Lane in February, meaning this package of works is now completed. Along with the additional new water pipeline near to the Great North Road Trent Crossing and new short section of pipework on The Wharf, this will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions due to bursts.

Great North Road

We have finished installing a new additional water pipeline near to the Great North Road River Trent Crossing. This will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions due to pipe bursting.

Pressure reducing valves (PRVs)

We have finished installing the vast majority of our new PRVs in Newark. Valves were installed on Lombard Street near the Beaumont Cross Inn, Albert Street, Beacon Hill Road and Boundary Road. These will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions via pipe bursts.

Sluice valves

We have finished installing a new Sluice Valve on Sherwood Street and Bowbridge Road. This will help us reduce the risk of supply interruptions.
