Upcoming work
Phase 4 – Due to complete 2019

With the pipeline now complete we will carry out testing prior to commissioning.

Work in progress
Phase 3 - December 2017 to May 2019

During this phase we will fill in the pipeline trenches. In the areas where this has been done, we will begin installing provision for drainage. The next stage is to regrade the contours of the land, reinstating the ground to its original condition. We'll then remove the mounds of topsoil by re-laying it ready for seeding. Finally, crop seed will be planted, fences will be erected, hedges and trees replanted and paths and verges made tidy again.

Phase 2 - March 2017 to Dec 2018

We have laid 23.5 km of steel pipe ( as of mid-October 2018) through tunnels and in open trenches, which we fill in once the pipes are welded together. We will lay the remaining pipe over the coming few months. We continue to use access roads and entrances to our works along the route of the pipe, carefully removing some fences and hedgerows. We have already laid the pipeline in places such as Lickhill, Belbroughton, Romsley, Mustow Green and Kingsway. This involves excavation of the trench and welding pipe sections together. We have started to dig shafts and create tunnels where the pipeline passes underneath major roads, rivers and railways, in these places the road will remain open with no interruption. There were a small number of minor road crossings where we needed to dig a trench across the road. Most of these have now all been completed and we don't expect many further road closures.

Work completed
Phase 1 - March 2017 to May 2017

Before we began laying the pipe we carried out preparation and groundwork throughout the length of the pipeline. Activities included the removal of hedges and erection of fencing around the working area. We had also stripped topsoil within the working area. Drainage provision is now in place and site access will be created to adjacent roads. We stripped away 99% of the topsoil along the route and have treated some of this too. We also marked out much of the route with posts.
