Why does my water have brown/orange/yellow bits in it?

If you experience murky or discoloured tap water

A disturbance on the water supply (like a leak or burst on a main) can sometimes cause the water to change in appearance

A burst pipe or mains can cause discolouration in the water supply for the area nearby. The burst will cause a rush of water, or a change of direction in the water which mixes up sediment from the pipes into the water. The sediment is often usually from iron pipes, and isn't harmful to our health but tastes bitter.

To help clear this issue, you'll need to run the cold water tap at first point of entry into the property on a slow steady flow for approximately 20 minutes.
