What type of connection can I use to connect to the public sewer?

Connections

There are 3 ways of connecting to a public sewer - the type of connection and size of the sewer determine which connection type can be used.

  • A Junction connection - can be used when connecting up to 2 domestic properties and the sewer is less than 300mm in diameter use
  • A Saddle connection - can be used when connecting up to 2 domestic properties and the sewer is more than 300mm in diameter use
  • A manhole - should be used for any commercial property or more than 2 properties this can via an existing manhole or a newly constructed manhole

If the public sewer you are connecting to is a brick built sewer you should consult with Severn Trent Water to confirm the method of connection.
