What is water pollution?
Water pollution refers to the contamination of our rivers, streams and oceans. In the case of our rivers, this is a serious problem. That’s because rivers provide most of the water we need for our homes, factories and farms, while also supporting a vast range of plant and animal life.
We work in close partnership with farmers and landowners across our region to protect drinking water quality. We believe that by helping them manage their land in a sustainable manner, the quality of water that drains from it can be improved. This helps reduce the need for costly and energy intensive treatment. Visit our catchment management page to find out more.
