STW is an energy intensive business, using large amounts of energy to pump and treat both sewage and drinking water.  Energy consumption is  increasing due to requirements for higher treatment levels to meet ever rising quality standards.

This presents us with a challenge as our higher energy use results in higher greenhouse gas emissions. To mitigate this increase we are implementing a twin track approach to our energy use.

First, we ensure that all our processes are running efficiently, and secondly we research and invest in renewable energy options.
