CHP
We currently have an installed base of 31,443KWe capacity from 49 CHP systems across 34 sites. Our CHP systems vary from 100KWe -1500KWe in size.
Sewage Gas CHP production expansion:
Our target is a 2% increase in annual production year on year. How will we do this?
Matching CHP engine capacities to digestion sites biogas yield:
- A new 836KWe Jenbacher system has been installed at Netheridge STW in Gloucester and the existing 634KWe engine has been relocated to Yaddlethorpe STW in Scunthorpe.
- An unused 190KWe system has been relocated from Retford STW to Alfreton in Derbyshire.
- A 100 KWe system will be replaced with a 425KWe at Monkmoor in Shewsbury.
Growth in imported trade wastes to digestion
We are actively seeking waste products from traders that increase gas production and will invest £520,000 in filter technology this financial year to enable this expansion.
Increased control and remote communications
To increase the efficiency and availability of our existing asset base we are investing more than a £1M in new controls and communications across our 49 engines. This will allow remote live monitoring of the engines and enable diagnosis of problems earlier.
Progress up to May 09
Netheridge and Retford engines relocations are now complete, contracts have been let for further schemes. We have completed the installation of four filter installations and a further six are currently in design.
The first of the new control systems has been installed and commissioned. System development is progressing well and further engines will be brought on-line later in the year.
