Water Resources Management Plan

Experience Lake VyrnwyOur Water Resources Management Plan sets out how we intend to provide supplies of water to our customers over the next 25 years and beyond.  The Plan explains the challenges we face and the uncertainties we have to deal with in planning for the future. It explains the range of options open to us to ensure that we can meet the future demand for water, and it sets out our strategy.

Our strategy includes demand management and leakage reduction, as well as new water resource development in the longer term.. We have produced a plan that meets our need to provide reliable water supplies at least cost, and in a way that will minimise the impact on the natural environment.

How our Plan is presented

1. An executive summary which provides a summary of our strategy to ensure future demand for water can be met, and highlights what has changed following the consultation on our draft WRMP.

The Summary can be viewed by clicking here.

2. The main plan, which is in 6 parts:

  • Part 1 which summarises our strategy and explains what has changed following the consultation on our draft plan.
  • Part 2 gives a summary of the long term supply / demand pressures we face and the framework we have used to develop our strategy
  • Part 3 gives our forecasts of the likely supply and demand for water in our six water resource zones for the next 25 years.
  • Part 4 looks at the investment options we have considered in preparing our plan
  • Part 5 sets out our strategy for balancing the supply and demand for water to 2035.
  • Part 6 explains the results of our recent work to review the structure of our water resource zones.

The contents of the Main Plan can be viewed by clicking here.

3. Data tables

For each of our six water resource zones, we have completed a set of supply / demand balance data tables. The data tables can be viewed by clicking here.
